History
Over 100 Years of History.
The original Hawthorne Inn was a two story, pegged beam structure built over 100 years ago. It became an Inn in the mid 1930s and provided lodging for travelers between New York and Boston.
It was named Hawthorne Inn for the Hawthorne tree that was once thriving in the front of the building. The tree was removed during the expansion of the Wilbur Cross Highway in 1940. The Inn itself was moved back from the road and set on top of the present first floor dining area.
In the late 1950s the demand grew for more private dining and banquet areas and the process began in converting the various lodging quarters into the rooms they are today. While the Hawthorne Inn no longer offers lodging, it remains the dining and entertainment destination of the area.
With the perfect mix of classic architecture and contemporary design the Hawthorne Inn has something for everyone. Whether it's a seasoned customer who has been dining in our restaurant for 20 years or a traveling businessman with a passion for great entertainment, The Hawthorne Inn can satisfy a variety of tastes!
